Design styles to make a statement in 2022

There are a plethora of ways you can decorate your homes, especially when it comes to lighting. With countless trends taking the spotlight in the design scene, you’ll always have a lot of inspiration in terms of the theme you’ll be choosing and it all comes down to your preferences in the end.

All you have to do is ensure that the design style you choose sits well with your space and it offers a fine balance between aesthetics and functionality. It’s not every day you go for a makeover and whenever you do, you will want to make it count. Now, take a look at all the design languages that have been getting a lot of attention this year.

1. Multi-style decor is the way ahead

Nobody wants to settle with one particular theme. And that has given birth to this unofficial unnamed design style that takes bits and pieces from every design language there is. A multi-style decor could be called a modern-day transitional design style because of its nature. But you have to make sure that you experiment in moderation as you are bound to go overboard with this design style. You can start with a modern chandelier and pair the statement piece with rustic wall lights or contemporary table lamp in the room. A pendant light is another timeless design that brings the best out of your decor.

2. Minimalism never goes out of style

Minimalism is here to stay and there’s no doubt about it. Minimalism has been in the spotlight for quite some time now and it appears that its popularity is barely waning away. This design style is not just about creating a clear backdrop in your space, it’s also about eliminating unnecessary design elements from your decor. There is a wide range of minimalist chandeliers, pendant lights, ceiling lights, table lamps and floor lamps that you can go for to create a stirring visual in your living space.

3. Robust and intriguing industrial decor

Industrial design is slowly making its way into the mainstream design space and people absolutely love the distinct vibe. The industrial decor has its own way of exuding cosiness and comfort in your living space. The excessive use of architectural elements adds an unmatched rustic aura to your space. The key is to use neutral monochromatic colours paired with wooden tones or metallic tones and you’ll have exceptional industrial decor at your disposal.

4. Retro designs back in trend

While retro design style wasn’t in the spotlight for a long time, it has sprung back into popularity. Now don’t confuse retro design, modern design, traditional design or mid-century design. Retro mainly refers to the innovative design style that emerged back in the 80’s when functionality became an essential part of almost every design style that ever existed. Retro designs mostly feature a larger-than-life colour palette and dominant use of glass. You can find pretty good lighting designs like table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers offering a perfect callback to the era.
