Smile, it might be your last.
A lot of people are asking themselves the same question: do I need a Snapchat? But the truth is, smartphones have been around for ages now and there are already loads of places to post pictures and videos. So why do we need yet another service? Well, that’s simply because Snapchat offers something that no other social media app can provide at this point in time – personal interactions through messages. Is the magic show on snapchat fake?
You can get as personal as you want because any message or picture that gets sent through Snapchat disappears in 10 seconds. That’s a lot of time to say exactly what you want to, without being judged and without worrying about a permanent record.
You can control how people react to your story by giving them the ability to replay, replay once, replay a few times or simply don’t allow them to see it again at all. And there are plenty of stories you can post on Snapchat. Snap a photo or record a video to post as your Story in general and/or share moments with friends using My Story.
A whole range of creative tools, filters and effects let you apply artistic touches to images and videos. Add a lens or filter to make your snaps more expressive, use the paintbrush tool to scribble on your snaps or draw with virtual crayons, or get inspired by viewing the Snapcode artist gallery.
Although your friends and family can see your snaps, not everyone has to. Create a private snap by tapping the camera icon and then selecting the circle that appears on the bottom of your screen.
Life moves so fast, you don’t want to miss a moment. Capture a photo or video, add captions and draw or add doodles using tools such as the eraser, pencil, pen and marker. And send it to loved ones in seconds!
Chat with friends and family while watching videos together. Make sure to press and hold the video chat button to bring up a list of your contacts, or snap the person you want to chat with.
There are tons of filters and other tools that let you spice up your snaps with artistic touches, like making them look like they were drawn in crayons or scribbled on with a marker. Or use lenses, which turn your world into an interactive cartoon or game – your friends can even add their own flourishes by drawing on top of yours!
If you have a child, you can set up an account for them on Snapchat. This will help keep them safe from the internet, and help you keep track of what they do online.
By sharing your location with friends or family, they will be able to see where you are currently, what city you’re in and how fast you’re going in miles per hour. This will help prevent people from trying to look for someone who doesn’t want to be found!
Follow your favorite TV shows and movie stars to see where they are, what they’re doing and what they’re wearing. You might even get the chance to watch them live on their stories!
Snapchat lets you send picture messages, or “snaps,” from any device on iOS, Android or Windows Phone, as well as from the web! Send a snap from your phone when you’re out with friends, at home when you get an adorable pet for the first time, playing with your latest toy — whenever. And it’s free to download!
Did you know that Snapchat also has a feature called “Our Story”? This is basically a collection of snaps from people in your area (within 25 miles) and can be really interesting to watch (as long as you’re not watching it where you work or live!).
If you have the eyes of a Snapchatter, take this chance to post links to your business, products or services. There are already loads of businesses who have joined Snapchat and offer advice through their Geofilter, Snapchat Ads and Stories. And the great thing is that it’s all free!
Snapchat is the next big thing and you should get on board now if you haven’t already by downloading the app here. If you’re still not convinced, I will leave you with some stats to mull over.
