Ins can planas is a Catalan term meaning “to make plans”. It contrasts with the word desitjar (desire, wish) for when one wishes to do something but doesn’t make any plans.
The expression of moodle ins can planas is used in the sense of “to think about what you would like to do and try to do” and for describing people who often think about things they could be doing and always come up with new ideas.
It’s not just thinking or fantasizing, but carrying out one or more plans that someone has thought of.
What the expression means is that when people make plans they are aware of their plans, they can think about them, evaluate them and change them when necessary.
This is in contrast to the word desitjar (which means to want but not think about it) which describes someone who never does anything about what he wants to do.
Here are some more points discussed about ins can planas-
According to the external world, at that moment you haven’t made any plans to do anything. You haven’t done any planning about what you would like to do.
When you think about the situation the question arises: where are you going to go? Where are you going to spend your holidays?
Who are your favourite people? What are you going to do when you get there, where will it be and so on. This is one of the functions of planning or thinking about things that one wants or might do in the future.
If you are active in planning, it means that you are working. It means that you are active in the process of thinking about your future life or what’s going to happen to you next.
You can be described as “active” if you plan your next activities or develop ideas about the future.
When people make plans, these plans can change throughout the process of making them (i.e., between the moment when one thinks of something and decides to make it happen and when it actually happens).
These changes depend on circumstances which might prevent someone from carrying out his/her plan, or they might simply result from changes between the initial idea and its realization.
You can think about things that you might do in the future. You can also think about the people with whom you will spend time in your life.
For instance, you might say: “I’ll take my mother to the seaside” or “I’ll visit my friend when I get back from work”.
These plans don’t necessarily mean that you will go and do them, so it’s better to be careful when we describe someone as having made plans even though these plans don’t yet exist (e.g., “he had a plan” instead of “he had thought about what he was going to do”).
A person who plans his/her life is also described as having “ambition” (in Catalan: “ambició”) or being “ambitious”.
A person with ambition has the willingness or desire to make important changes in his or her life. Such changes can be related to work, studies, living conditions and even changes in one’s social relationships.
Ambition also implies the desire to move up socially, economically, etc. It is very similar to the Spanish word ambicioso (which means the same thing).
Ideas of one’s own future can exist even though they are not acted on. In fact, they might be called “plans” when they are actions that someone decides to do in the future which he/she has already decided on after having thought about them.
A plan doesn’t necessarily have to be a plan for the future. It could simply be a mental picture of what will happen in a future moment in time, which in that moment is in the present. For instance:
“He was looking into his past” or “She had a vision of her present”. However, when it comes to social relationships, these plans are usually about things that one wants to do with other people.
So, for social relationships it is better to say “I’m planning to meet my old school friend” or “I’m planning to spend my holidays with you” or “I’m thinking about what I will do when I get back from work”.
When someone thinks about what he/she would like to do in the future but doesn’t do anything about it, this person is not thought of as being ambitious.
Instead, they are seen as someone who has ideas (“won’t think of anything”) or has hopes (“who has got many hopes”), but no plans.
