The universe within is a collection of objects and energies that collectively compose the world as we know it.
The collection of items within contains everything from photons to quarks, from antimatter to black holes, and from stars to galaxies.
Clean ERSJ has some more information about the universe within.
These substances share a common theme: the fact that they are all out there in space, wrapping our observable universe.
However, a matter still remains: what is inside us? What exactly is the “us” part referring to? Well you!
In this blog post I explore the answer to these questions through scientific findings on how humans are made up of atoms, cells and organisms/organisms making up animals/animals living only on earth.
Here are some points discussed about the universe within-
1.How are animals born?
2.How are animals able to reproduce?
3.What are the parts of animals?
4.How are animals able to survive in harsh environments?
5.What are animal adaptations?
The process of giving birth, or reproduction, is fundamental to the survival of species because it allows for passing on genetic traits to future generations.
Although scientists have known about this phenomenon for decades, it is only recently that they have uncovered the molecular mechanisms behind it, namely that DNA is at the heart of this process.
Here’s how DNA gets copied into RNA and then into proteins that carry out important cellular functions throughout our lives.
The fundamental building blocks of life are chemicals called nucleotides. These come in three different varieties, which are the building blocks out of which DNA and RNA are made.
The three nucleotides consist of a sugar (deoxyribose), phosphate group (phosphate) and an amino acid called nitrogenous base (in DNA it is adenine, in RNA its is uracil).
DNA is made up of nucleotides. For DNA to be copied, the nucleotide building blocks need to be assembled correctly in the correct order.
Once this chain of building blocks is complete, the chain can then be copied in two directions. But how is this chain copied in the first place?
To understand how this works, we have to understand where genes are stored when they are copied into messenger RNA (mRNA).
Genes are found on chromosomes in our cells. Chromosomes are structures that look like little bubbles or spools, each of which contains many different genes located on tiny pieces of string found in our cell nucleus.
Contrary to what you might think, living organisms are made up of cells. But, in order for an organism to be made up of cells, the organism has to be made up of smaller components, called tissues.
Tissues are grouped into organs that carry out specific functions. And then organs are grouped into systems that allow the body to function as a whole. We’ll start with cells.
Cellular Structure.
Living organisms are made up of cells. The structure of a cell is very important because it determines how the cell may function.
Each cell has the same general architecture, which consists of a membrane surrounding an interior compartment containing the cell’s organelles, or internal structures that are essential to the function of the cell.
The membrane surrounds the entire unit that is known as a cytoplasm, which forms an inner layer surrounding all other components of the cell. It is this inner layer, called the plasma membrane, which gives rise to both its shape and composition.
Some animals live in extreme environments where the temperature is too high or too low for humans to survive without some kind of protection like bees on an Alaskan tundra or frogs in the desert.
Other animals, like the Komodo dragon and certain insects like the red harvester ant, make their homes in habitats that contain particularly nasty microbes and parasites.
Other species can adapt to their environments by changing color, growing bigger or smaller, changing their diet, moving to a new area or evolving into a different species.
Animal adaptations are features that allow an animal to survive in its environment. Adaptations can be physical (like feathers for flying) or behavioral (like hibernation during the winter).
Most animal adaptations help an organism survive, but some help it avoid threats in order to keep it from being killed.
The problem with adaptations is that they don’t help an animal survive forever. Organisms evolve over time, and the features that help them survive now might not be as helpful in the future. Because of this, it is often difficult to predict what an animal will need to survive in the future.
