The unsolved murder mystery is one of the most engaging, intriguing, and frustrating mysteries in all of human history.
With no conclusive evidence, many questions remain unanswered about why this crime occurred and who committed it.

1. Unsolved Mystery: The Green River Killer
The Seattle area and Oregon were the sites of a series of serial killing events throughout the 1980s and 1990s that came to be known as the Green River Strangler murders. The killings took place mainly along Seattle’s Interstate 5 corridor, which spans from Tacoma to the Puget Sound.
The victims were young men, ranging in age from 18 to 31 years old. All had been hitchhiking to Eugene, Oregon. They were strangled and dumped in shallow water adjacent to I-5 between Seattle and Tacoma. Then their bodies would be cut up with a knife for disposal.
Some of the victims were buried in shallow graves and moved to other areas before being discovered. The last victim found, Lyman Smith, was found by hikers on December 26, 1989. He had been missing for almost two months.
Initially it was thought that more than one person was involved in the killings, but it has since been determined that this is not the case.
Two men who lived in Renton confessed to killing Rainier Beach High School senior Robert Bogle on August 23, 1983, but Rainier Beach police said they found no evidence linking them to any other homicides.
2. The Cleveland Torso Murders
In the early 1930s, the torso of a Jane Doe was discovered in Lake Erie, not far from Lakewood, Ohio. The body was later found to be that of a woman who had been stabbed in the back and dismembered.
The person who committed this crime has never been identified and has come to be known as one of “America’s most chillingly enigmatic cold cases”
3. The Disappearance of Maura Murray
In 2004, a college student named Maura Murray disappeared while hitchhiking in New Hampshire.
She has not been seen or heard from since that day, and she was a native of Massachusetts.
She has a history of depression and suicide attempts. She had previously attempted suicide by taking an overdose of ambien.
4. The Tylenol murders
In the fall of 1982, seven people died within a few weeks of taking capsules that had been laced with potassium cyanide. Although it appeared at first to be a random act, police later learned that all the victims had taken the capsules from bottles that were purchased in the Chicago area.
The motive behind the crime remains unknown. The perpetrator was never apprehended, although several theories have been proposed over the years.
The FBI still keeps an open file on this case, which remains open to this day as well as being one of America’s most confusing cases which has no clear-cut answer till now!
5. Angela Davis
Angela Davis was an American black activist who was active in the Civil Rights Movement. She was arrested during a protest against racial segregation, following her conviction of firearms charges.
She went on to serve 10 years in prison for this crime, becoming an internationally known figure after her release.
6.The Grassy Narrows First Nation – The Story of Stanley Tsihachineum
Stanley Tsihachineum is the subject of the first ever feature documentary by award-winning director Ian McLeod. The film recounts the story of his life, something that happened nearly fifty years ago but is still fresh in his mind today.
The story begins in 1958, when Stanley and his brother and sister were taken from their parents and sent to the residential school at Red River. He was then adopted by white missionaries, who brought him to southern Ontario.
He was later reunited with his birth family, after nearly three decades of separation. The documentary was first broadcast on 26 March 2011. It is part of the CBC Aboriginal series and is 48 minutes in length.
7. The Somerton Man – The unexplained death of an unknown man
At 5:31 AM on 30 December 1948, a man’s body was found on Somerton Beach, near Glenelg, South Australia under mysterious circumstances.
There were no signs of foul play nor any reports of missing persons in the area. Upon examination, it was found that he had died just a few hours before and that he had not been carrying any identification papers or personal belongings.
